Invest in ME
The Journal of IiME
Volume 6 Issue 1
Invest in ME have now published the latest issue of the Journal of IiME - a blend of research, science, facts, politics and real life experiences of ME.
In this issue we have research papers and some articles relating to perception and treatment of people with ME and their carers.
A hardcopy version of the Journal of IiME was distributed to all delegates at the 7th Invest in ME International ME/CFS Conference in Westminster, London on 1st June and printed copies are available from Invest in ME (apply via email).
The theme of the 2012 conference was building a future for research into ME and more focus was placed on immunology.
Collaborations and cooperation between ME researchers, and researchers from other fields, is necessary and productive.
Prior to the conference a Clinical Autoimmunity Working Group meeting was held over two days with experts from around the world discussing ME and autoimmunity. These included researchers at the cutting-edge of their fields - not necessarily in ME research.
Thanks to the efforts and vision of Chris Hunter and the Alison Hunter Memorial Foundation this meeting was able to take place after almost a year of planning between AHMF, IiME, Bond University and UEA.
The 7th IiME conference was oriented toward immunology especially with the possible view of ME as an autoimmune disease. The Journal contains an extensive article from Margaret Williams - The Immunological Basis of ME.
Great progress is occurring in the biomedical research into ME and the conference illustrated the achievements of organisations and individuals who have a strategy toward research into ME.
The Journal contains the abstracts of the 7th Invest in ME International ME/CFS Conference 2012 conference and continues to be free to download from the Invest in ME website. To view and download the Journals of IiME please use this link
